Squash Rackets: U. S. Open

Table of Contents

History

The first U. S. Open for squash rackets was held in 1954. As the name suggests, it was open to both amateurs and professionals. In 1966, it merged with the Canadian Open as the North American Open.

Those tournaments were played with the American hardball. As U. S. began to switch to the international softball version of squash, the Open was revived in 1985 as a softball tournament. It's been hosted by Boston for the last three years.
