History
Betty Jameson presented this trophy to the Ladies Professional Golfers Association in 1953. It's named for Glenna Collett Vare, who won a record six U. S. Women's Amateur titles between 1922 and 1935.
Like the PGA's Vardon Trophy, it's awarded to the golfer who has the lowest average strokes per round in professional tour events.
To be eligible, a golfer has to play at least 70 official tournament rounds.
