The Walter Camp Football Foundation has presented this award to the nation's outstanding college football player since 1967.
The award is named for Walter Camp, often known as the "father of American football" for the many rules changes he pioneered that transformed rugby into football.
The winner is chosen by a vote of Division 1A coaches and sports information directors.
