History

USA Water Polo, the governing body for the sport in the United States, established its hall of fame in 1976 and induction ceremonies were held every year through 2004.

Then there was a five-year hiatus; the next induction ceremony was held in 2010.

Candidates can be nominated by anyone. Nominations are evaluated by the organization's Hall of Fame Committee and the committee's recommendations are then passed on to the USA Water Polo Board of Directors for final approval.
